Northwest PULSE Webinar December 13, 2022

This year the NW PULSE Leadership Circle will host several webinars around the theme: “Inclusive Learning in the Life Sciences: The Student Perspective”. The theme reflects our commitment to be responsive to the needs of our students as we develop the various elements of an inclusive and rigorous learning environment grounded in evidence-based practices.

The first webinar will be “First impressions matter: Setting the stage for inclusive teaching in the classroom”.  It will be held via Zoom on Dec. 13, 2022, from 2:00-4:00 PM PST.  The Zoom information is below.  Please feel free to share this information with your colleagues.

Pre-workshop Preparation

Please take 15-30 minutes to prepare for this webinar

  1. As an introduction, please review Inclusive Syllabus Language from the University of Michigan’s Inclusive Teaching Website. This website includes documents with examples of inclusive syllabus language.
  2. Bring a) an example from a syllabus that demonstrates an inclusive teaching practice and/or policy, and b) examples of first day activities that promote a sense of belonging and community building.
